Kid Rock
Kid Rock testified that he exchanged “tough words”, but denied any physical contact with the accuser. However, Harlen Akins, his accuser refuted his claims, stating he is still unable to specify an exact reason for the altercation that involved both Kid Rock and his friends.
Testimony from Kid Rock admits the verbal assault, he said, “I gave it to him verbally; I said, ‘Shut your mouth, man.’ ” He also added that five of his friends did hit Harlen Akins, but he, himself never touched Akins. Kid Rock testified that “Akins” questioned him about his ex-wife Pamela Anderson. He also claims that Akins recognized and insulted a woman who was a part of the musician’s entourage for the evening.
Testimony from Akins denies insulting the woman, he said he was just asking Davina Barnes, who is Kid Rock’s friend, to stop calling and texting him about an old disagreement. He also denied asking about Anderson and he says he still lacks the reason why “Kid Rock” and his friends turned violent.
Witness testimony corroborated Akins details of the night. A server in the Waffle House testified that Kid Rock and his entourage were loud, rude and started the fight and was not acting in self-defense. Eric Hertz, Akins lawyer made note of a past altercation involving Kid Rock.
Those altercations included him punching a DJ at a “Nashville strip club” and punching rocker Tommy Lee, Anderson’s ex, at an awards show. In closing statements, Hertz portrayed Kid Rock as the quick-tempered rock star.
