After two weeks of close calls for the manipulative Marty on “Survivor: Nicaragua,” tribe members were more tempted to rid him on Wednesday night’s episode, thinking it was finally time to send him home.

In typical Marty style, he was feeling cocky once LaFlor and Espada merged. Convincing Sash, he too is just a pawn and not a threat. That is in spite of the fact the he had lost his closest friend, Jill, and handed over his immunity idol, the move that has spelled doom for past contestants.

When the two tribes, LaFlor and Espada, merged Marty suggested Libertad, meaning “liberty” as the new tribe name. The tribe agreed to the new name as Mary handed out the new red sashes.

The challenge for Survivor: Nicaragua Episode 8 featured individual immunity for the first time. All the castaways, which have now been merged into a single tribe, must squeeze two metal handles tight enough to support a steel tension rod. Once the rod drops contestants were eliminated as the rod came crashing down on their tiles. The contest would hold two winners, a male and a female. In the end, Jane and Fabio were victorious.

At the Tribal Council, it was clear Jane wanted Marty gone, but she has a hard time getting people to support her idea. Fabio, on the other hand, is pushing to see NaOnka gone, but he is also having trouble winning support.

Dan came in to remind the others that it was NaOnka who stole equipment and food from the tribe, and that it was Alina who acted as her accomplice and didn’t say anything about it even though she knew the truth.

When votes were finally counted, it was Alina who was the outcast and sent home. Again, Marty survived, and he did it once again without the protection from the immunity idol, solely surviving on Sash’s word of honor. In the final vote tally, it was 10 for Alina and 2 for Marty.
