
Emmy Award Winning TV Show Modern Family, New Fall Season Premiers September 22 on ABC - Photo - ABC
Modern Family can now share another family milestone; they have become an Emmy winning family. The encouraging heartfelt comedy was named TV’s best comedy on Sunday at the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards.
Late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel hosted the Emmy awards. The show opened with a Bruce Springsteen parody performed by Kimmel and several key celebrities.
Modern Family is in its second season and airs on ABC. The show films in documentary style, interviewing the extended family with multi-generations under one roof. Eric Stonestreet who plays Cameron Tucker, the upbeat gay father won five Emmys, more than any other series. Cameron was overcome with emotion when he made this statement during his acceptance speech, “A lot of people say, ‘don’t pursue acting for a living; it’s too difficult.’ It is difficult. . . . But this is amazing.”
The cast of Modern Family shared the best comedy with both Glee and Big Bang Theory, they walked away with directing and writing Emmy’s respectively. Betty White won for her guest host appearance on Saturday Night Live as the Best Guest Actress in a comedy series category.
The winner of the most Emmy’s of the night was the made-for-television movie “Temple Grandin.” The based on a true story movie received five Emmys in the Mini-series or Made for Television Movie category. Temple Grandin was present at the Emmy’s to witness the greatest triumphs of the movies directors and cast.
