Dr. Conrad Murray is up for another court hearing for his alleged manslaughter of the pop legend Michael Jackson. His lawyer said he expected the hearing to be quick as it was just a preliminary hearing to schedule the trail date for the case.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor scheduled the hearing for Dr. Conrad Murray during a brief court session Monday, with Murray in attendance. Prosecutors laid out some of their evidence at the hearing, with Pastor then deciding to send Murray to trial. The doctor entered a plea of not guilty in the hearing and it has been speculated that this might be a long court case.

Jermain Jackson, brother to Michael Jackson, said that it was evident to him that Dr. Murray was just a fall guy and did not actually commit anything illegal. “This is bulls***” he said. The other members of the family refrained from giving statements although Joe Jackson did urge the fans to back off.

Judge Michael Pastor denied a request by the state medical board to order Murray to stop practicing medicine as a condition of his bond while he awaits trial. Seven other doctors and a nurse have been cleared of charges related to the death leaving Dr. Murray as the only person who can be found guilty in Michael Jackson’s death. The scheduled trial date is set for January 4, 2011.
