After using a controversial racial word on her radio show, Dr Laura Schlessinger has announced that she is ending her show. This comes after the backlash she received from the use of the N-word. She made the announcement on the Larry King Live show Tuesday night.
“My contract is up for my radio show at the end of the year and I’ve made the decision not to do radio anymore,” she told Larry King. “The reason is I want to regain my First Amendment rights. I want to be able to say what’s on my mind and in my heart and what I think is helpful and useful without somebody getting angry, some special interest group deciding this is the time to silence a voice of dissent and attack affiliates, attack sponsors. I’m sort of done with that.”
The talk show host lashed out at a female black caller after she complained about her husband’s excessive use of the N-word. She told the caller that she was being hypersensitive. Schlessinger then used the word several more times to the shock and awe of her 9 million listeners.
This was very uncharacteristic of the conservative talk show host who has managed to avoid controversy during her 30-year career. The only other controversial issue was when she compared someone who is gay to a pedophile 10 years ago.
