ABC will host the "Dancing with the Stars" Finals on November 22. The last three remaining stars compete for the mirror ball trophy.
Even though the couple scored a set of perfect 10’s from the judges after their Argentine tango routine Monday night, singer Brandy and her dance partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy were eliminated during the semi-final round of “Dancing with the Stars” last night.
The couple had been one of the top three contenders throughout the season, consistently scoring in the top three since the very beginning, and during the past few weeks they have battled it out with Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough for the top spot.
That leaves three remaining couples going into next week’s final round: Grey and Hough; Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas; and Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer. One of the couples will win the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy next week.
Brandy’s ousting was a surprise, since Palin has been the lowest scorer for all of the past seven weeks. The votes from the viewer audience were the one bright spot for her and have always come to Palin’s rescue. If it were not for the audience votes, she would not be a final contestant because she did not receive the best votes by the DWTS judges. This week was the first time a contestant was axed after performing a repeat performance by the request of the judges.
“I don’t know what to say right now,” said Brandy, who appeared to be fighting back tears after hearing the announcement that she was leaving. ‘It hasn’t processed for me yet.”
The results appeared to shock all the dancers, and Chmerkovskiy took the defeat with grace.
“Voice count,” he said. “I love the fact that the show represents the people’s choice.”
The results are determined by a combination of judges’ scores and audience votes.
“I am shocked because last night you delivered a fantastic performance,” Judge Bruno Tonioli told Brandy. “I am so disappointed! Your freestyle, I was looking forward to see it so much.”
