Chevy Camaro Revs Up Sales, Races Past Mustang

2011 Chevy Camaro

2011 Chevy Camaro MSRP is $29,150 with 312 horsepower at 29 mpg.

Auto dealers across the country and Europe saw an increase in sales during 2010, the largest margin of increase since the recession hit the United States three years ago.

Ford and General Motors can breathe a little easier entering 2011 as car sales steadily increased. Although, the increase was not comparable to past sales, the good news is sales are increasing. According to Chris Zeppenfield, Great Lakes Ford in Ludington, “new car and truck sales were up 15 percent”.

Just a few years ago, the auto industry was in dire distress as they received billions of dollars in bailout money from the United States Government. The bailout forced restructure, which in the long term has generated profit for companies.

As in years past, the Ford F-150 pickup truck performed well in the market for Ford. However, the Ford Fiesta emerged as the best selling model of 2010 for Ford. The best selling Chevy model was the Chevy Cruz and the Jeep Cherokee, the top seller for Chrysler. For the first time since 1985, the Ford Mustang was out sold by the Chevy Camaro.

Although the Dodge Challenger beat neither the Ford Mustang nor Chevy Camaro in sells, the car holds it own when it comes to sales. In 2010, the Dodge Challenger sales rose by 42 percent, which translates to almost 37,000 sales. This was quite a feat for the Challenger since it has the largest chassis of the trio of muscle cars.

According to reports, the Chevy Camaro boasting 312 horsepower in its 2011 model, has incorporated upgrades that aim at keeping the Camaro Detroit’s number one selling sports car.
