“Bob’s Burgers”, FOX’s newest animated series, made its debut on the network’s Sunday night lineup.

Meet Bob and his lovable family, wife Linda, 13 year-old daughter Tina, the son and middle child Gene and the youngest daughter Louise. The pilot concept is about this family and the burger business. The new dysfunctional family on the block makes a run at operating a family-owned restaurant that has “not so perfect” waitstaff and a bad location. Despite this and many other faux pas, Bob and his family think they run a successful burger joint.

Sunday nights on FOX television, referred to as one of the most boorishly funniest nights on television, added “Bob’s Burgers” to its lineup. The show airs between “The Simpsons” and “Family Guy”, two of FOX’s most successful shows. The new series sparked a hint of promise with FOX viewers but there are some skeptics.

The concept of the show was a perfect match on paper for a successful animated series on FOX. Most of the network’s viewers are used to the dysfunctional family representation on animated series. “Homer Simpson” and “Peter Griffin” has well prepared viewers for the dysfunctional family and “Bob” follows in the same path. However, “Bob”, a character created by Lauren Bouchard, moves away from slapstick humor and delivers laughs with dry humor.

The first “Bob’s Burgers” show is centered on “Bob Belcher” a family man, whose family works for an unsuccessful restaurant. During the first show, “Human Flesh”, the series pushed the boundary between offensively funny and completely distasteful as autism, pedophiles and cannibalism were all apart of the dry pun.

The show’s cast and crew are a familiar group as many of them worked together on a previous project, “Home Movies” which aired from 1999-2004. H. Jon Benjamin, Bob’s character, is known for his dry, yet hilarious comedic style. Fellow comedians, Dan Mintz (Tina), Eugene Mirman (Gene), John Roberts (Linda), and Kristen Schaal (Louise) provide voices for the rest of the Belcher family.
