Blizzcon, which opened Friday, announced last week that the event is opening ceremonies and tournaments streamed online at http://blizzcon.rayv.vom. In addition, DIRECTV customers can see coverage on the 101 Network.
Blizzcon is the yearly summit put together by Blizzard Entertainment to promote its major gaming franchises: Warcraft, Starcraft and Diablo. This year’s event is being held at the Anaheim Convention Center. Tickets for the event sold out earlier this year.
For a price, Blizzcon is offering fans virtual tickets, which give you, access to more than 50 hours of Blizzard features through your computer. This includes access to the Tenacious D concert and the ability to witness the event’s fantastic costume contest.
At the convention this weekend, Blizzard Entertainment announced that digital pre-orders for World of Warcraft: Cataclysm will be available directly through the Blizzard Store.
Mike Morhaime of Blizzard made the announcement during the event’s opening ceremony that an option to pre-order Cataclysm will soon appear at the Blizzard Store. The company will allow those customers to download and install the expansion pack before the official release date. The right after midnight on December 7, players will be able to start immediately exploring the devastated landscape of Cataclysm.
It was not clear if the pre-orders for Cataclysm would go live at midnight in the time zone where they were purchased, or if everyone would get access together at midnight Pacific Time. More details are expected to come out when Cataclysm is added to the Blizzard Store soon.
